Simcoe Condominium Corporation 408 (locally known as Mariners Haven)
(Formerly SCC 94, 114 and 144)
Mariners Haven was developed in the late eighties, by the Late William Kaufman owner of Kaufman Footwear and Furniture Companies.
Mr. Kaufman purchased a water lot in Collingwood Harbour of Georgian Bay behind the Collingwood’s Kaufmann furniture factory (has since been torn down) and is a 15 minute walk to downtown.
The land component was two manmade extremely wide piers which are in the shape of U which created a private marina basin. In the picture below top right hand corner is the Town owned Collingwood Terminal Building (not in use).
Thirty two condominium units, in sixteen buildings were constructed on the piers, thereby giving every owners a back yard view overlooking their own exclusive use docks (and area) and the common yacht basin.
Units are two stories, approximately 3000 sq ft, not including fully finished basements (a few owners upgraded by excavating an entire living space below the Unit’s three car garage)
Originally the thirty two condominium units were spread over three condominium corporations.
At the end of each pier there are two freehold properties which have a newly negotiated Shared Facilities Agreement with SCC 408.
